NursesThe Portuguese Nurses Union threatens to come to the streets, if the Government's refusal to apply the 35-hour weekly schedule to all nurses is confirmed, leaving out of the measure professionals with Individual Employment Contracts (CIT).

The stalemate in negotiations with the Government has already led the Algarve delegation from the SEP to summon nurses from the Algarve Hospitals to a plenary on Friday, "to sharpen forms of struggle."

Unionists say that the attitude of the Ministry of Health is "unqualified", arguing that this retreat "demonstrates bad faith in negotiations and undermines the expectations created."

«On May 4, and since then, the Government has been taking on the commitment, in successive meetings with the SEP, with the presence of elements from Finance and the State Secretariat for Public Administration, even signing a negotiating protocol for the negotiation of a collective labor regulation instrument, with a view to the immediate setting of 35 hours. Now, unexpectedly, it withdraws that commitment”, accused the Algarve delegation of the SEP, which calls the decision “unacceptable”.
