The “collapse of a sewer collector”, which led to the “downgrading of the pavement” in the area of the Pedra Mourinha roundabout, is already being repaired, but has led to traffic restrictions. Therefore, advises the City Council of Portimão, if you can, avoid going through this area of the city.
The rupture in the sewer collector, which opened a hole in the pavement, occurred around 19 pm, but, according to the company Águas do Algarve, responsible for the operation of the collector, «the area was immediately isolated, with no damages having occurred. ».
According to Teresa Fernandes, spokesperson for Águas do Algarve, the company "immediately proceeded with the repair work".
Despite the collapse, there was no leakage of sewage, since, the company guarantees, «the drainage of wastewater is being carried out by a parallel collector».
However, for the repair work, it was "necessary to change the traffic", "in consultation with the competent authorities", namely the City Council of Portimão and the PSP.
