The Câmara de Lagoa received the award for “Autarchy of the Year” at the School Sport Gala, which took place at the Municipal Auditorium of Lagoa on the 13th of July.
About 300 people attended the ceremony that honored the Lagoon local authority “for its support in holding various events, such as the national final stages of School Sport”.
According to the Câmara de Lagoa, «the interaction between members of the School Sports family, guardians, teachers and employees also served to encourage a project with value, which promotes a regular, oriented, inclusive sporting practice that focuses on equal opportunities".
Councilor Luís Encarnação thanked the distinction and, according to the municipality, “expressed the municipality's permanent commitment not only in providing physical structures for the practice of sport but also in holding events covering all sports and in supporting clubs and institutions and, in this particular case, to school sports».
The mayor also guaranteed "the continuation of the policy advocated by President Francisco Martins to support sporting activities as a contribution to a better and healthier youth."
At the event, students, projects and schools from Lagoa were also awarded, with the Rio Arade Schools Group being considered the best school in the Algarve in terms of the number of athletes involved and results in competitions».
