The Vila Real de Santo António City Council once again offers school manuals to around a thousand students who study in public schools in the municipality's 1st cycle. To this measure, which is repeated for the second consecutive year, the municipality will add, in 2016/17, the offer of school material kits for each of the 50 pre-school classrooms, material that will be used collectively.
This offer includes worksheet books for all students in the first cycle, "largely surpassing the offer foreseen in the State budget, which only provides for the attribution of textbooks to the 1st year of the first cycle", according to the Chamber of VRSA.
Another measure announced today by the Vilarealense autarchy was the attribution of support for the acquisition of material to students covered by the 1st and 2nd levels of school social action. In all, the municipality expects to spend around 65 euros.
"In this way, we are helping families to overcome the financial difficulties felt at the beginning of the school year and to pursue a strategy that provides all children with the same conditions in terms of access to education and training", according to Conceição Cabrita, vice president of the Chamber of VRSA and councilor responsible for education and youth.
The form, deadlines for attribution and collection of textbooks will be announced during the next week. All information will be available on the VRSA Chamber portal.
