alcoutim and sanlucarAlcoutim takes fado, Sanlúcar de Guadiana guarantees flamenco. These two musical styles will be the ingredients of a show that will take place on Saturday at 22 pm in Sanlúcar, Spain, an event that results from an action of cross-border cooperation between locations separated by the River Guadiana and which will be repeated annually.

The cross-border show “has the objective of strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two border towns through the most important national musical expressions of both countries: Fado and Flamenco, musical styles classified by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Culture (UNESCO) as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity», revealed the Chamber of Alcoutim.

The flamenco component will be provided by the dancer, teacher and choreographer Maria José Jerónimo, accompanied on voice by Rocio Mayoral and Laura Castro and on guitar by Manuel Velez. Born in Huelva, Maria José Jerónimo has vast experience in the world of flamenco and since 2008 she has developed her professional activity through her own company.

Fado will be guaranteed by Algarve fado singer Pedro Viola, accompanied by Albino Gonçalves, on Portuguese guitar, and by Aníbal Vinhais, on viola. After winning, in 2006, the «Grande Noite de Fado de Lisboa», the fado singer has toured Portugal and countries such as Spain, France, Belgium and Germany, having already edited three record works and a DVD.

Admission to the show is free.
