Secretary of State in LagoaThe Deputy Secretary of State and Internal Administration and the Territorial Commander of the GNR of Faro they will soon be able to visit an alternative space for the park of seized vehicles, to be made available by the Câmara de Lagoa.

The invitation was made by the mayor of the municipality Francisco Martins, during the visit that the Secretary of State Isabel Oneto and Colonel Silva Gomes made to the current warehouse where the vehicles seized by the GNR are parked, located in Parchal, by the road, and that, "due to its negative aspect, it has created quite a controversy and has given rise to several requests for clarification by the municipal executive to the competent entities", stresses the Lagoa City Council in a press release.

Apparently, the invitation of the mayor Francisco Martins was accepted, with only the scheduling of the visit to the alternative place suggested by the municipality to be scheduled.

Secretary of State in Lagoa 2During the visit of the government official, which took place on the 2nd, «the delegation traveled, on foot and at length, throughout the space, trying to understand the importance of the negative visual impact given to the entrance of an area with a relevant tourist classification and even to the front of the largest congress hall in southern Portugal, the Centro de Congressos do Arade».

On this visit to Lagoa, various issues related to crime in the municipality were addressed, as well as the conditions in which the GNR develops its important proximity inspection, which statistically translates, the municipality stresses, into "an almost non-existent crime rate" .

The Secretary of State took a long time to tour the facilities of the GNR Territorial Posts in Lagoa and Carvoeiro, listening to questions related to the functioning of the services and the need for an increase - albeit minimal - in staff and welcomed the works recently carried out for the total refurbishment of the Posto de Carvoeiro, only one access ramp for people with disabilities is missing, to be carried out at the end of the summer.
