The former president of the Parish of Estoi José António Paula Brito was accused by the Public Ministry of the crime of malfeasance. The former mayor will be tried together with a construction entrepreneur, accused of the same crime, and with the treasurer of the Board, the latter for the crime of embezzlement.

According to the indictment, «the then president of the Parish Council, who was responsible for leading the adjudication process of a work to alter the Market and Parish Council building, worth around €100 euros, will have agreed with said entrepreneur to have the work awarded to his company'.

Also according to the Public Prosecutor's Office, "with this objective, they will have obtained budgets from other companies for intentionally higher values ​​and led the board to effectively decide to award the work to the aforementioned entrepreneur, with justification that the price was lower".

In the process, the treasurer of the same Parish Council, also elected locally, was also accused of the crime of embezzlement. According to the indictment, the woman appropriated money from the municipality that was given to her as treasurer.

The facts happened "until December 2012", reveals the Public Ministry.

The inquiry was directed by the MP of the 2nd Section of Faro of DIAP and the investigation was carried out by the Judiciary Police – Directorate of Faro.
