The Guadiana Cup_2The Copa do Guadiana, the largest Iberian youth soccer tournament, which runs from June 20 to 30, “will represent an estimated economic impact of 2,5 million euros for the region, an amount that will be distributed by hotels and restaurants, as well as for local commerce», reveals the Vila Real de Santo António Chamber.

The fourth edition of the “Copa do Guadiana” will feature more than 4.000 athletes from 276 teams in the 11, 7 and 5 football modalities, and is expected to attract more than 20.000 people.

Sporting, Atlético de Madrid, Benfica, Seville, Futebol Clube do Porto, Betis, Sporting de Braga and Vitória de Guimarães are some of the Portuguese and Spanish teams that will compete on the field for the victory of this competition, organized in partnership with the Municipality of Vila Real of Santo António and with the Ayuntamiento de Ayamonte.

For Luís Gomes, president of the VRSA City Council, «The Guadiana Cup is one of the most important sporting events in the region, as it affects the city and the municipality. It represents a great impulse and effort in favor of the Algarve's economy».

The games will take place at the Vila Real de Santo António Sports Complex, on the Lusitano FC field of Vila Real de Santo António, on the Beira Mar field, in Monte Gordo, and at the Estádio Blás Infante, in Ayamonte (Spain).

Around 80 people are allocated to the event for support and support, namely at the technical level. Of this total, 50 are part of the VRSA Volunteer Bank and 30 are employees of the organization itself.

At the end of the tournament, all used balls will be donated to Lusitano FC of Vila Real de Santo António and the staff equipment will be distributed to the volunteers and employees of the event.

The competition's opening ceremony is scheduled for June 20, at 20:30 pm, at the VRSA Sports Complex. With the exception of the opening ceremony, whose ticket is worth 6 euros, all tournament games are free to enter.
