The biggest fresh goat cheese of the Algarve breed will be produced live and served at Feira Terra de Maio, at Centro Multiusos do Azinhal, which runs from May 20th to 22nd, in its 9th edition.
The challenge was proposed by the Municipality of Castro Marim to Queijaria do Azinhal, which promptly accepted, proposing then to make a fresh cheese weighing about 40 kilos and 80 centimeters in diameter, for which approximately 170 kilos will be needed. 21 liters of milk, on Saturday, May 18, at 00:XNUMX.
Having as its motto the promotion and increase of the Algarvian Breed Goat and the knowledge and flavors associated with it, Terra de Maio offers a diversified program, which includes local cuisine, the sale of traditional products, a wine show, live handicrafts. , cooking demonstrations, exhibitions on various themes, children's workshops and lots of musical entertainment.
The opening of Terra de Maio, on the 20th, at 18 pm, will be animated by the group “Pardais à Solta” and will include the presentation of the book “O Algarve Mediterrânico”, by Maria Manuel Valagão, Bertílio Gomes and photography by Vasco Célio , which will then give space to the inauguration of the photography exhibition with the same name, by Vasco Célio, and to a showcooking, by Chef Bertílio Gomes.
