LARAMA PHOTO 1The Lídia Jorge Municipal Library, in Albufeira, receives the exhibition “Traço e Color na Escuridão”, by the painter Larama between 4 and 27 June. The opening is scheduled for 10:00 am and the exhibition can be visited from Tuesday to Friday, from 9:30 am to 19:15 pm, and on Monday and Saturday, between 10:00 am and 18:00 pm.

Trained in painting and graphics at the António Arroio Decorative Arts School, in Lisbon, Jorge Amaral is known by the artistic name of Larama. Born in 1960, he felt the call for painting from an early age, having participated in several competitions, where he got an honorable mention.

The artist became blind in 2008, which, according to Albufeira, «did not prevent him from pursuing his dream in the art world, for which he had the help of the well-known singer and composer Miguel Ângelo and the advice of his psychiatrist, who prescribed therapy as a way to overcome grief for blindness».

His first exhibition took place in the Algarve, in Estoi, where he currently resides.
