Enercoutim_03The SolarLab of the Solar Demonstration Platform of Martim Longo (Alcoutim) will receive next Monday, May 2nd, a Treasure Hunt competition, a playful-pedagogical activity and a competition where around one is expected to participate. hundreds of young 8th and 9th grade students from schools in the Eastern Algarve.

The event, which is integrated in the “Open EU Project Days 2016”, presents at first hand the latest news from SolarLab, an integral part of the Solar Platform, an interactive space that positions itself as an accelerator of technologies and companies in the areas of energy and IoT (Internet of Things) .

According to David Santos, president of CCDR Algarve and of CRESC Algarve 2020 (Regional Operational Program of the Algarve), «this project shows the importance of European Union Funds for the enhancement of this infrastructure».

«It is investments of this nature, located in a low-density area, that can make the Algarve more competitive. Furthermore, they are aligned with the priorities of Portugal 2020», stresses the leader.

Marc Rechter, chairman of the board of Enercoutim – Alcoutim Solar Energy Association, the organization that manages the Solar Demonstration Platform, points out that “it has managed to attract a growing number of international companies and investors to the project, which it has been supporting the increased demand in the region for opportunities in the area of ​​renewable energy and European research projects”.

The most recent example of this dynamic is «the capture of a monitoring and marketing project at “SolarLab”, with multinationals SolarEdge, SolarWorld, together with PME PerfectLandscaping, which plans to test the production and longevity of different solar panels on differentiated surfaces », added Marc Rechter.
