Children and young people in São Brás de Alportel have one more tool to become “bars” in mathematics. Last week, the José Belchior Viegas Schools Group received one hundred “Here is… Mathematics” pedagogical bags, which contain new stimuli for learning this subject.
The acquisition of these materials was made possible due to an investment made by the São Brás municipality and provides pedagogical continuity to the project «Here there is mathematics… in the Museum», which explores mathematics based on local heritage, namely the Museu do Trajo de São Brás de Alportel.
With this project, the City Council of São Brás de Alportel intends to encourage the learning of mathematics and heritage in a different and fun way. With the suitcases, you gain an ally in this design.
«According to the guiding documents of Pre-School Education and the 1st Cycle of Basic Education program, mathematical development in the first years is fundamental, the success of future learning depends on the quality of the experiences provided to the children. These assumptions, together with the curiosity and natural appetite of children to discover and experiment, justified the active and playful use of the Museu do Trajo de São Brás de Alportel, with a view to exploring mathematical concepts and knowledge of heritage," according to the Chamber of São Brás.
"The conciliation of these areas in a different approach facilitates the absorption of basic concepts, an achievement that intends to be strengthened with the daily application of the contents of the delivered cases", he added.
The project began with training, under the guidance of educators Olga Ludovico and Graça Bernardo, for kindergarten teachers and teachers from the 1st cycle of the José Belchior Viegas School Group.
