Pedestrian and cycling network_Cabanas_ConceicaoThe pedestrian and cycling network between Conceição and Cabanas will be expanded, in an investment of close to 195 euros, announced the Câmara de Tavira, which has just awarded the project.

The works focus on two distinct sections and include, in general terms, the creation of cycle paths and sidewalks, road reorganization, improvement of rainwater drainage networks, as well as electrical and telecommunications infrastructure.

The first section, in the Conceição area, covers Rua da Estação, thus providing access to the railway stop from Rua da Nossa Senhora da Conceição.

The second runs south to the intersection of Rua Capitão Jorge Ribeiro and Rua da Nora Branca, in Cabanas.

The proposed intervention for the section to the north of the railway line aims to improve the conditions of pedestrian accessibility, continuing the walk on the north side of the street, having to cut down the existing trees.

It also intends to continue the cycle path to the stop, as well as reinforce the pedestrian access with the urbanizations located to the north.

On the other hand, car circulation and parking will be improved, through differentiated paving and lane delimitation, the introduction of a rainwater drainage network, and the improvement of the public lighting network and the burying of electrical and telecommunications infrastructures.

In the second section, it is intended to create footpaths in the area around the creek of Canada and to connect to the cycle path along Rua Charles Bonnet.

Between the pedestrian and cycle path over the Canada stream and the access to Perogil, the road is proposed to be re-profiled, through the creation of a roundabout and interior access for buses.

Sidewalks and pedestrian crossings will be created, the bus stop will be relocated and the electrical and telecommunications infrastructure will be improved.

The work, with an estimated period of execution of six months, aims to take advantage of the pedestrian and cycling structures that already exist in a broader structure.
