PSD Denounces Delays in Approval of Applications for Employment Incentive Programs

«More than 2 thousand applications» to employment promotion programs of the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training, relating to the region […]

IEFP"More than 2 candidacies" for employment promotion programs of the Employment and Vocational Training Institute, relating to the Algarve region, have been waiting for approval "for several months", denounced the PSD deputies elected by the Algarve Cristóvão Norte and José Carlos Barros.

Social-Democratic parliamentarians confronted the Government with what they considered a "chaotic situation" in the evaluation of candidacies for programs such as the Measure for Employment and Employment Training, among others, "a circumstance that causes unquestionable harm to companies and, above all, to assets (employed and unemployed) in the region'.

This delay comes at a time when there are many companies wanting to hire, to meet the increase in demand associated with the peak of tourism in the region.

«Therefore, clamoringly and without justification, an opportunity to integrate more young and unemployed people into the labor market is wasted, in a period in which it presents greater dynamics, due to the substantial reduction that took the Algarve from a record-breaking region in terms of unemployment at the national level to one of the lowest, which is important to persist in fighting with recourse to active employment policies», they claim.

In numbers, and according to the PSD deputies, there are 1555 candidacies for the Measure Estímulo Emprego, "none approved", a situation that is repeated for the Young Active Employment program, in which all 15 candidates are still waiting for an answer. With regard to the Employment Stages, of the 635 applications that have been submitted, 124 have been approved so far (468 under analysis). In Employment Insertion Contracts, the approval rate is much higher, with 184 of the 369 applications already approved (158 under analysis).

At the base of this situation, consider Cristóvão Norte and José Carlos Barros, is the government's disinvestment in the area of employment in the Algarve. In 20015, the budget of the IEFP regional delegation “came to €39,3 million, with €35 million being implemented”. «For 2016, the budget that is allocated to the Algarve is 30,8 million euros», they counter.

“Right now the situation is chaotic. The IEFP is not approving applications. Therefore, the Government must clarify the reasons for this cut and if, on the other hand, there are funding captivations that prevent the services from proceeding with the approvals», demand the Algarve deputies of the PSD.
