Tolls Via do Infante_3The Minister of Infrastructure Pedro Marques assured this Tuesday, at the Assembly of the Republic, that he wants to move forward with the reduction of the value of tolls in the ex-SCUT in the interior and in those that do not have any viable alternative, such as Via do Infante , as early as next summer.

The member of Government guaranteed that he had already completed the technical preparatory work necessary to proceed with the reduction, but criticized the previous executive, who did not advance with the processes to the point of lowering the price of tolls, not only inland, but also in the Algarve.

This reduction is also dependent, in some cases, on the conclusion of the renegotiation process of the Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) for the roads. Pedro Marques assured that only nine renegotiations were concluded and that it was still far from the goal of cutting costs of seven billion euros announced by the previous government.

Before this announcement, the Commission of Users of Via do Infante scheduled a new protest against tolls for the 30th, Saturday, at Fonte de Boliqueime. A demonstration that takes place days before the discussion of proposals for the abolition of tolls, one of which is a bill, in the Assembly of the Republic, scheduled for 6 May.
