Origins_ferragudo_1Ferragudo already has its first store dedicated only to the sale of traditional Algarve products. It is «Origens», another investment by Luís Alberto, who, in addition to being chairman of the Parish Council in his last possible term, has insurance business, but is also the owner of the bar and live music space «Casa Grande” and is soon preparing to launch a restaurant in the village, “with an entirely new concept in the region”.

This true man of seven trades, in his «Casa Grande», where he started by serving customers, and then also by selling directly some Algarve products – such as preserves and wines –, soon realized the potential that the business could have. From there, even thinking about opening a store, a kind of old-fashioned grocery store, was a step.

A «Origins» store It is located on Rua da Hortinha, 2, in Ferragudo, almost on the corner of the street that goes to Angrinha and Grande beaches, «in an area with a lot of traffic and easy parking».

There, for sale, preserves, wines, liqueurs, brandies, namely medronho, honeydew, gin, craft beer, salt and fleur de sel, oils from the mill (from Sabor do Sul, in São Brás de Alportel, from Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo and Monterosa brand olive oils, from Moncarapacho), olives, jams and jams, dry and fried cakes, shaving soap and handmade soaps, teas and aromatic herbs, honey, pollen, piripiris, cork objects. Soon there will also be sausages and cheeses.

From outside the Algarve, there are only dried mushrooms and dehydrated tomatoes, which come from a producer in the Center of the country, Port and Madeira wines, and, soon, Madeira sugarcane spirit, to make the poncha.

Because the store looks like one of those old stores, it even has a high counter, where wine by the glass and some snacks made, for example, with artisanal Algarve preserves, will soon be sold.

«It was another project that I launched, but Ferragudo receives more and more tourists and a store like this was already needed», Luís Alberto told Sul Informação.
