grassesThe parish of Cachopo, in Tavira, will be the target of paving works on several streets. The City Council awarded the contract to the company José de Sousa Barra & Filhos, Lda. for around 366 thousand euros. The construction period is six months.

Largo Pedro Gamito and Rua do Altinho, Rua da Moagem, the municipal access road to Relvais and the section of the EM 397 between Monte da Ribeira and Cachopo are the roads that will be repaired.

In Largo Pedro Gamito and Rua do Altinho, the work «aims to contribute to the dignification and improvement of mobility and urban quality in the village of Cachopo, equating the use of new materials articulated with urban furniture with a sober and modern language», explains the autarchy.

The solution found by the City Council “is through the paving of the square and the street and the formalization of drainage lines that contribute to the easy drainage of rainwater. The car route and accesses are defined using level guides. The introduction of trees materializes the distinction between pedestrian, car and rest areas, giving the space a greater freshness and shade».

For the Municipality of Tavira, «the work makes it possible to enhance the space, organize parking, create resting and shading areas, as well as define drainage guides».

On the other hand, Rua da Moagem will be repaired to «allow a safe circulation of people and goods, with an average width of 4 meters».

The municipal access road to Relvais will also be repaired on the stretch of road towards Alcaria.

The section between the EM 397 and the crossing to Seixo “is in a very poor state of repair as a result of the circulation of high tonnage vehicles”. Here, the work focuses on lifting the pavement, opening the box, placing sub-base and base layers, applying a wear layer, replacing side guides, cleaning berms and ditches, as well as stabilizing of slope.

In the section of the EM 397 between Monte da Ribeira and Cachopo, the «paving covers an average width of 6,50m, benefiting traffic conditions and safety measures. The works include the application of a wear layer in bituminous concrete and horizontal signage marking.

For the Câmara de Tavira, «in proceeding with this undertaking, the municipality continues to mark steps in the improvement of circulation and road safety in the municipality».

After the paving in the city, the parish of Conceição and Cabanas; Luz de Tavira and Santo Estêvão is now the turn of the parish of Cachopo, in a global investment that amounts to €722 thousand + VAT.
