beta talk aprilThe Beta Talk Portimão de Abril is scheduled for next Saturday, April 16th and will be associated with the “Start Work-Exhibition of Entrepreneurship, Employment and Professional Training” program. Starting at 17 pm, in the Alcalar do Portimão Arena room, the conversation will be with two entrepreneurs who, at certain times in their lives, have made their “hobbies” and passions the great inspiration for creating their own businesses.

Beta Talk Portimão will be, as usual, a moment par excellence for exchanging and sharing ideas, this month with Rui Fernandes, co-founder and owner of One Bike – bicycle shop and workshop and Paulo Bica founder the current manager of SPIC- Creative Solutions.

Rui Fernandes is 39 years old and, despite having been born in Marmelete, from an early age he adopted Portimão as his birthplace, where he studied and attended the Hotel and Tourism School where he completed a course in restaurant and bar. For 15 years, his professional career was marked by spending time in 5-star hotels, where he started as a bartender and then as a waiter, reaching the top of his career as head of restaurants and bars in
a large hotel group that, in 2012, would go bankrupt and put him out of work.

onebikeAlways with a proactive and dynamic attitude, he saw this end of line as an opportunity and began to look at his great “hobby” - bicycles, as a business opportunity. With a former co-worker, he decides to turn this great passion he always had for bicycles into his own business and, under the system of incentives for the creation of self-employment by the IEFP, he starts the OneBike project- shop and workshop of bicycles.

After 8 months of sweating, planning, thorough research and doubts whether or not he would be able to follow this new ride in his life, in December 2012 he opened the doors of OneBike in Portimão where he offers his customers everything for cycling.

Paulo Bica is the current general director and founder of the company SPIC – Soluções Criativas, headquartered in Loulé, but his academic and professional path has not always been here, although the “little bug” for the arts and design had always been his passion. .

The initial goal was to be a Physical Education teacher, perhaps influenced by his father, but fate wanted that when he did not enter college he would take the professional course of "Front Office" at the School of Hotel and Tourism in Faro and had its 1st professional contact with the world of hospitality. In the meantime he attended a degree in Engineering and Product Design at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo but disillusioned with the course he returns to the Algarve to work in the hotel industry and take the Communication Design course at the University of Algarve and for 10 years he pursued a professional career of success in the hotel industry through various departments, reaching hotel director.

spiceWhen he turned 30, his interest and passion for design and communication technologies spoke louder and he decided to change his life. In 2007, he created SONHA, PENSA, IMAGINA, COMUNICA, LDA (SPIC), which immediately made a difference in the market with innovative solutions and a strong interactive component in the provision of graphic and web design services. Since 2009, it has been investing heavily in the area of digital communication, providing a diversified set of products and services supported by new technologies and seeing its work distinguished nationally and internationally.

The company's creative and technological capacity is currently its biggest differentiating factor and, more recently, the investment in research has allowed the creation of an innovative holographic product - a nice virtual public relations that is already in the mouths of the world and promises to win over customers.

Beta Talk is free to participate, although registration is required here, while the wine-break is on behalf of whoever comes, so participants are invited to bring juice and snacks to share.

According to the Portimão Chamber, «this will also be an excellent opportunity to visit the Start Work, which will take place between the 14th and 16th of this month at Portimão Arena, with a view to promoting the dissemination of job offers and professional internships, programs and measures for investment support, professional training, normal and vocational secondary education and higher education, provided by companies and public and private educational institutions, polytechnics and universities in the municipality and region of the Algarve.
