Companies from the Algarve Garvetur – Enolagest group will reinforce their teams in 2016 and plan to hire 80 people. The announcement was made yesterday by the administrator of the group Reinaldo Teixeira, at a working lunch with the media, which served to make known the ongoing projects and prospects for the current year.

It is precisely because they anticipate a 2016 of growth that Garvetur companies will bet on creating jobs. In this field, the highlight goes to Alvarsol, an industrial laundry that plans to make an investment of around one million euros to, according to its manager Orlando Lopez, «triple its capacity». With the increase in capacity, this laundry will need to hire 30 people.

This is just one of the many business areas of a group that brings together 38 companies, related to tourism, and has existed for over 33 years. «I don't know a group of companies that have such diversity and complementarity. We play in all tourist-related activities. And, as we usually say, when there is no company working in an area, we create it», said Reinaldo Teixeira.

At the meeting promoted by Garvetur with journalists, some companies of the group, which work in emblematic areas, were represented. In addition to Alvarsol, representatives of Garvetur Vacations and VisaCar were also present, as well as the group's human resources department.

The holiday area is one of the main areas of Garvetur -Enolagest, a group that had revenues of 30 million euros in 2015. And it is one where there is a strong growth, in line with the good results registered by Algarve tourism in recent years.

In 2015, Garvetur Vacations achieved "a 19 percent increase in occupancy" of the approximately 600 accommodation units and 200 houses it manages, not only in the Algarve, but also in other parts of the country, including the Douro region, according to Célia Teixeira, company representative.

Reinaldo Teixeira_2In 2016, the prospects are for growth within the same values – «19 to 22 percent». For now, there has been a clear growth, above expectations, in the first two months of the year, of 15%. This, together with the fact that «49 percent of our capacity is already reserved in 2016», allows us to envisage not only good occupancy, but, above all, good deals.

«In recent years, we have promoted many sales campaigns, some aggressive, with strong discounts. This year we are not doing it anymore», revealed Reinaldo Teixeira, because the level of demand does not justify it. "People are aware that it will be more difficult to secure a house, especially in high season, and they started making reservations earlier," he added.

Another area that is undergoing recovery is real estate. Here too, there will be recruitment, not least because demand has been increasing exponentially, and there are starting to be few new houses available in the portfolio. This makes us foresee a re-launch of the civil construction sector, something that should happen with a lot of planning, defended Reinaldo Teixeira.

The crisis, with all that it brought bad, also “taught a lot”, according to the administrator of Garvetur, namely the ideal level of supply, to prevent the situation that was experienced between 2008 and 2012 from happening again.
