José
Francisco Collected Luís was born on May 16, 1952, having started his political activity in 1976 as president of the Parish Assembly of Mexilhoeira Grande.

Later, from December 1982 to December 1997, he served as president of the Parish Council of Mexilhoeira Grande.

In 1997, he assumed the position of councilor of the Portimão City Council, a position he held until October 2013.

José Sobral also served on the Board of Directors of EMARP and on the social bodies of sports and recreational associations, such as Mexilhoeira Grande Futebol Clube and Sociedade Recreativa Figueirense.

«As a man and a mayor, he always guided his conduct by easy treatment and manliness, being recognized for his “down-to-earth” posture in understanding and solving people's problems», stresses the municipality of Portimão.

In professional terms, José Sobral was a civil servant, having been part of the staff of the Portimão City Council. He was a well known and respected figure throughout the county.

The body of the late mayor is already in the Igreja da Figueira, where the funeral will leave tomorrow, the 22nd, at 15 pm, for the cemetery of this town in the parish of Mexilhoeira Grande (Portimão).
