The Eco-Schools Program passed through Loulé and took with it suggestions, put forward by students from schools in this municipality, for sustainable mobility.
Between the 14th and 16th of March, this initiative by ABAE (Blue Flag Association of Europe) was held at schools EB1 D. Francisca de Aragão (Quarteira), EB 2,3 School of Quarteira, Secondary Laura Ayres (Quarteira), EB1 da Fonte Santa (Quarteira), EB 2,3 Dr. António de Sousa Agostinho (Almancil), EBI Dr. Aníbal Cavaco Silva (Boliqueime), EB 2,3 Engº Duarte Pacheco (Loulé) and Secondary School of Loulé.
«Among the main proposals left by the young students, the creation of cycle paths and footpaths, the improvement of urban public transport circuits and the encouragement of their use, the carrying out of awareness-raising actions for walking, bicycle or for the shared use of the car, the creation of bicycle parking, especially near schools or eco-walks», according to Câmara de Loulé, ABAE's partner in promoting this initiative, in Loulé.
The initiative ended at Paços do Concelho, with a symbolic ceremony where a student read a short text about the realization and assessment of the “Rota dos 20” in the Municipality of Loulé, after which the students handed the scrolls with suggestions and contributions from all the Eco-Schools in the municipality and the Book of Schools.
«The success of the promotion of the “Rota dos 20” in the Municipality of Loulé was just one example of the level of involvement, dedication and commitment of the Eco-Schools with the respective program and the importance of their contribution to building a more environmentally sustainable Municipality» , according to the Chamber of Loulé.
