Lusíadas Hospitals Faro and Albufeira already provide all Algarve residents with consultations and treatments with vascular surgeons from the Hospital Lusíadas Lisboa team.
This team of doctors is led by surgeon Pereira Albino, coordinator of the Vascular Surgery Unit at Hospital Lusíadas Lisboa, with Pedro Amorim and João Vieira being the first doctors to carry out these consultations in the Algarve.
“Algarve and Baixo Alentejo are, unfortunately, deprived areas in the vascular surgery specialty. Thus, in order to address these deficiencies, these two doctors travel weekly to the Algarve not only giving consultations but also performing multiple less complex surgeries. Of these, we highlight the treatment of varicose veins, which are carried out on an outpatient basis, with the latest laser and radiofrequency techniques”, explains Pereira Albino, coordinator of the Vascular Surgery Unit at Hospital Lusíadas Lisboa.
And he adds: “whenever more complex intervention is needed, usually patients with arterial pathology (deficiency of circulation in the limbs or carotids) or aneurysm, there is a close connection with the Hospital Lusíadas Lisboa, which responds to all requests for this area in full, with documented experience in the treatment of complex forms, both from the endovascular and surgical point of view”.
The Vascular Surgery Unit is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases involving the arteries, veins and lymphatic vessels.
Chronic venous disease (varices), abdominal aortic aneurysm, peripheral arterial disease, cerebrovascular disease with carotid or vertebral involvement, and chronic renal failure are some of the pathologies that will be able to be treated at Hospital Lusíadas in Algarve, in conjunction with Hospital Lusíadas Lisbon.
