Those interested in carrying out works on real estate in the city of Silves, by 2020, and who want to apply for community funds, should contact the City Council until 23 March. The municipality is preparing the Silves Urban Regeneration Action Plan (PARU), which covers most of the city's urban fabric.
PARU is considered fundamental for the Municipality and private individuals to apply for Community funds for Portugal 2020, in order to promote «the regeneration and revitalization of the city».
According to the municipality, the creation of the PARU “reflects the importance given by the municipality to urban rehabilitation, seen as a reflection of the valorization and rationalization of resources in contemporary societies”.
The Chamber of Silves states that "it has been making an intense effort to contact local actors, namely economic agents in the real estate sector, private entities and residents, promoting several working meetings and explanations of the scope and actions foreseen in this project" .
The aim of the municipality is to "involve the population in this action, supported by public and private initiatives and reinforce the candidacy that is being concluded, with interest for both types of initiatives".

The city of Silves has already been the target of two urban rehabilitation actions in recent years, although of different content, first with the creation of the now extinct Office of the Historic Center, in the 90s of the last century, and then with the intervention of the Polis.
