Tourists at the Airport of FaroThe Algarve Tourism Association will reinforce the promotion of the region in Paris, with a workshop for press and trade, taking place on the eve of its participation in the Salon Mondial du Tourisme.

Thus, on March 16, there will be a B2B workshop that will have the participation of 15 ATA members, including hotels and DMCs (destination management company – destination management companies). Divided into two moments, the workshop will take place in the Showroom By space, where the morning will be dedicated to presentations to the press and tour operators. This is followed, in the afternoon, with meetings one-to-one with travel agencies.

Also in Paris, between the 17th and 20th of March, the Algarve will participate in the Salon Mondial du Tourisme, a reference fair where the main and most important destinations will be represented players of world tourism.

With 36 square meters and decorated with emblematic images of the Algarve, the ATA stand will have an island format, with 10 individual counters that will be used by the nine registered partners.

For Dora Coelho, executive director of ATA, the visit to the French capital will be «an enriching experience, an excellent opportunity to promote the Algarve and its products with the trade and the general public. The French market is booming. Last year, it increased by more than 20% and all indicators point to excellent performances in 2016. The French tourist has shown great interest in the Algarve and is already in sixth place in the ranking of landings in Faro. Only in 2015, they landed in Faro around 196.000 French tourists».

«The trip to Paris will expand ATA's range of contacts, reinforce the Algarve as a destination to visit throughout the year: ideal in summer, with its cliffs and golden beaches, and an excellent alternative for winter, with its cultural heritage, nature, interior and gastronomy”, he continues.

A reference in the sector, the Salon Mondial du Tourisme received, last year, 109.000 visitors. of which 2.500 were professionals. Among tourism associations and regions, tour operators, agencies and accommodation units, 550 exhibitors were represented. This year, ATA debuts as one of them.
