The first (and, for now, only) Regional Youth Plan was created in the Algarve and will be able to be known, in detail, tomorrow, Friday, in a session that will take place from 14 pm at the headquarters of the Coordination and Development Commission Regional of the Algarve, in Faro. This is another result of the projects «Algarve 2020: A Young Proposal» (2012/13) and «Algarve 2020: A Youth Contract» (2015/16), carried out by the ECOS Cooperative.
«The Algarve is the first and only region in the country to create an action plan for Youth, and the only one in Europe to develop this process in cooperation with more than 90 regional entities and organizations. The first Regional Youth Action Plan – «Algarve 2020: A Youth Contract» – has been drawn up, since the beginning of 2015, in dialogue with young people, through a series of meetings and work sessions carried out in various points in the region. The document presents specific action proposals, to be implemented by 2020, in different areas of youth», revealed ECOS.
The cooperative carried out, over four years, an "extensive process of consultations with young people, with the collaboration of more than 90 entities, including municipalities, regional directors, institutions and organizations in the region." This action resulted in "a set of measures with a view to responding to the challenges and obstacles felt by young people in the region", which are explained in the Regional Youth Plan of the Algarve.

ECOS – Cooperative of Education, Cooperation and Development, CRL is an organization registered in January 2010, constituted with the purpose of «contributing to the promotion, recognition and valorization of non-formal education as a methodology of human development and social transformation in complementarity with education formal and informal and for social integration and reinforcement of social cohesion, assuming itself as an agent of community development».
It offers a wide range of services, including consultancy, research and training, and its practice is centered on the conceptualization, development and implementation of sociocultural, environmental and educational projects, in their most varied forms and involving the most varied actors (professionals and volunteers, researchers, entities, local authorities, among many others) linked to work with children, young people and adults, both locally, nationally and internationally.
