The biggest children's football tournament in the world will be played at the Vila Real de Santo António Sports Complex between the 19th and 27th of March. The 23rd edition of Mundialito will feature more than 200 teams from all over the world.

Ricardo Godoy, founder of the project, said at the official presentation that they will compete in this FIFA-approved initiative «more than 4 young people, between 6 and 12 years old» divided into four categories of "7 football" and one category of "6 football"

Gelson Martins and Daniel Podence, players from Sporting Clube de Portugal, sponsor the event and, in the presentation, spoke about the importance that this type of competition has in the training of young athletes.

Among the participating clubs are Benfica, FC Porto, Sporting, Belenenses and Olhanense, in a competition that also includes international teams such as Barcelona, ​​Inter Milan, Juventus, América de México and Kashima Antlers.

«We are very pleased to be holding a new edition of the Mundialito in Portugal and because this is a tournament that is already part of the competitive calendar of training levels, where all young people want to play», said Ricardo Godoy.

On a financial level, the organization of the tournament foresees a return of 7 million euros for the local economy, since «the competition is responsible for the complete occupation of the hotel offer in Vila Real de Santo António, during Easter week», he concludes.
