Eat well campaignThree primary schools in the Júlio Dantas grouping, in Lagos, are once again associated with the Portuguese League Against Cancer (LPCC) campaign, “Comer Bem Dá Saúde”, suggesting special menus once a week in school cafeterias.

An initiative promoted at a time "when the levels of overweight and childhood obesity exceed the desired level", says the City of Lagos.

By joining the campaign, the Lacobrigense autarchy «aims to encourage healthy eating habits among children between 6 and 10 years of age and, at the same time, raise awareness in the school community and families about the importance of food in child development».

Every Thursday, until the 17th of March, the school cafeterias of the basic schools of Santa Maria, Espiche and Bairro Operário will have on their menus foods suggested by the initiative, such as broccoli, carrots, apples and water.

The mission of the LPCC is framed "in the work of information, awareness and promotion of health in the municipality". The “Comer Bem Dá Saúde” campaign, which covers schools across the country, has the institutional support of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Science.
