Monte da Rocha Dam_1The municipality of Almodôvar is now supplied with water from the Monte da Rocha Dam, for which the Municipality expects a «substantial increase in water quality».

The Municipality of Almodôvar, together with the company Águas Públicas do Alentejo, last week made a technical and political visit to the Water Treatment Plant (ETA) of the Monte da Rocha Dam, as well as to the facilities that supply water to the residents of Almodôvar, Aldeia dos Fernandes and Corte Zorrinho.

Symbolically, the water supply tap, coming from Monte da Rocha, in that municipality of Baixo Alentejo, was opened.

According to the municipality, "the necessary conditions are now in place to guarantee a substantial increase in the improvement of the quality of the water that is supplied to the municipality of Almodôvar and its inhabitants."

Monte da Rocha Dam_2Mayor António Bota is «satisfied with the supply from the new ETA at Monte da Rocha, as it is the realization of a dream that has now come true».

The Almodovar mayor says he hopes that «the amount of water now supplied by this ETA, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, will become the main source of supply to the municipality of Almodôvar».

António Bota assures that, «however, the former intake of Rabaça, at the Boavista Dam, in Almodôvar, will always be operational to remedy any situation that may arise, namely in the event of a breakdown in the system from Monte da Rocha».
