The off-road races «II Moto TT Endurance Meeting» and «Challenge Cross Country Alcoutim» will animate this municipality in the interior of the Algarve on Saturday and Sunday, 27th and 28th of February.
The competitions are open to amateurs, but they also promise to attract renowned motorsport athletes.
On Saturday, the day will be dedicated to off-road motorcycles. The Encounter of Resistance will take place on a track that will be installed around the village of Pereiro and which “offers infrastructure ranging from toilets to washing motorcycles and also a place for showers, in addition to the usual bars”, according to the Municipality of Alcoutim.
On February 28th, the debut of the Cross Country Alcoutim Challenge takes place, an event of navigation and regularity. «Participants will be challenged to cover two sections of approximately 75 kilometers each, using a road book, as in races like the Dakar», described the municipality.
«Taking advantage of the excellent conditions of the place, we returned to Pereiro. It will be at this location that all departures, arrivals and assistance between both sections will take place», he added.
«We expect a weekend with sun and dry weather, together with the earth and stone floor of the exceptional layout, which will provide excellent conditions for all drivers and also for the always passionate public who want to follow the events».
In the case of 4 Horas TT, the public can count on a “benefit”, “the fact that almost the entire route is visible from just one place”.
