Portimonense guaranteed the passage to the semi-finals of the League Cup after a 3-2 victory taken in irons, this Tuesday, at Paços de Ferreira.

The Algarvians were trailing 2-0, but eventually managed the comeback, with some luck in the mix. For history, it is the passage of the Portimão team to the next stage of the competition, after a Group Stage in which they only won victories.

Portimonense entered the field with very strong chances of qualifying, as they didn't even need to win, as long as, after all, there was no difference between goals scored and conceded smaller than Sporting, who played at the same time in Arouca. Still, the ideal was at least a draw, which would guarantee the pass.

The match started badly for Portimonense, who after 6 minutes saw Roniel putting the home team ahead. Portimonense seemed to accuse the goal accumulated errors and saw Jadson hit the post of his own goal, getting very close to scoring in his own goal.

A few minutes later, veteran Manuel José kicked inside the area outside the reach of the Algarvian goalkeeper and put Paços de Ferreira to a 2-0 win. fewer and fewer goals to be the semifinalist.

After half an hour, and after the entry of André Carvalhas, Portimonense improved and managed to reduce the disadvantage before the break. Fidelis scored in the 44th minute, which allowed the Algarvians to go to the dressing room a little more relaxed.

In the second half, Portimonense tried to control the game, even because in Arouca there was a void (Sporting for winning 1-0) and everything played in their favor, even losing. Until the equalizer, the best opportunities were for Paços, who still couldn't extend their advantage.

A player from Pacense would even score, but in the goal itself. On 71 minutes, Cícero deflected André Carvalhas' cross into his own goal and re-established the equality.

The winning goal came soon after, in the 74th minute, when Fabrício scored an exemplary free-kick, with no chance of defense for the pacense goalkeeper. Until the end, Paços tried to reach a draw, but their players showed their aim was out of tune.

This was a historic victory for Portimonense, which reaches, for the first time, a semi-final in this competition. In the next phase, he already knows that he will meet Marítimo, and he will wait for the results of the games that are yet to be played to meet the other semifinalists
