The Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve will give concerts in Lagos, at the Cultural Center (January 23rd, at 21:30 pm), and in Lagoa, at the Municipal Auditorium (30th, at 21:30 pm), always accompanied by the voice of Manuela Lopes.
The first performance will take place on January 23, as part of the celebrations for the Elevation of Lagos to Cidade.
This date will be a double commemoration for the Jazz Orchestra, which marks the 11th anniversary of this Orchestra's debut, in the same room, held on 25 January 2005.
A week later, at the Lagoa Municipal Auditorium, the pretext is the “New Year Jazz Concert”.
In both cases, the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve will present a repertoire with some themes by Count Basie, such as the classics “One Mint Julep” or “Flight Of The Foo Birds”, and in the voice of Manuela Lopes. not standards like “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”, “The Look Of Love” or “Sweet Georgia Brown”.
The Algarve Jazz Orchestra was born from the edition of Lagos Jazz 2004, having been founded that same year and has always been directed by the trumpeter Hugo Alves. It is currently made up of 17 musicians and resident in the municipality of Lagoa.
