conego_firmino_irroThe Municipality of Silves has just expressed, in a public note, its regret for the death of Canon Firmino Dinis Ferro, who was the city's parish priest «for many years (16 years)», having left the parish in 2005 to exercise the position he held until the date of his death, that of Vicar General of the Diocese of Algarve.

Born in 1943 and ordained in 1969, he was curate parish priest of Silves, from September 1969 to October 1973, the parish where he would return in 1989, appointed by the bishop of the Algarve at the time, D. Manuel Madureira Dias, as parish priest.

«His connection to the city is, therefore, long and has marked many generations of Silvenses, who were married, baptized and guided by him in the Christian faith. He leaves memories and acts that will perpetuate his memory with the population and local administration bodies, with whom he has always actively collaborated», stresses the municipality.

The Municipality of Silves extends its heartfelt condolences to the Diocese of Algarve and to all the immediate family of Canon Firmino Ferro.
