ash farmThe Left Bloc, through its deputy from the Algarve, João Vasconcelos, requested an urgent hearing from the Secretary of State for Spatial Planning and Nature Conservation, on the “Vale do Freixo Golf&Country Resort” project, planned for the interior of the municipality of Loulé .

According to the Blocist deputy, «the construction of a mega real estate project in the municipality of Loulé, considered as a project of potential national interest (PIN), violates national and community legislation».

"It is essential to understand the status of the project and question the Government about the actions and future intentions regarding this mega enterprise", justifies João Vasconcelos, Algarve deputy of the Bloc.

Planned for the Algarve's Barrocal area, the development of two hotels, a golf course and eight villages, will occupy, according to the draft, around 400 hectares, inserted in the middle of the protected area by Rede Natura 2000 and whose construction is planned in the area of infiltration of the Algarve's main aquifer (Querença-Silves) which, according to the deputy, "violates fundamental areas for the conservation of biodiversity and European environmental restrictions."

The village “Vale do Freixo Golf & Country Resort” contemplates the creation of 1.700 tourist beds and 350 direct jobs, has Arab capital and its implementation is planned for the same area of the controversial “Quinta da Ombria” project, already in course.
