The Accessible Walks network of São Brás de Alportel, which is already over five kilometers long, will be officially inaugurated on January 6th, at 11:30 am.

This is one of the measures carried out under the «ambitious São Brás de Alportel Accessible plan», which aims to make this municipality «truly more inclusive and supportive, for all», according to the Chamber, which boosted the project.

The official launch of the network will feature the presence of the Secretary of State for the Inclusion of People with Disabilities Ana Sofia Antunes and included a walk through the network, starting at the Dr. José Sousa Pires Municipal Pavilion.

«The Accessible Walks Network placed several areas of the town's urban center within the reach of people with reduced mobility, allowing them to circulate with more comfort and safety for all», framed the São Brasense municipality.

This new infrastructure “integrates the entire Circular Norte (2700 metres), the connection between the Parque Desportivo and the Circular Norte from the Campo Sousa Uva roundabout (48 m), a section on Avenida da Liberdade (180 m), the connection between Parque Desportivo and Avenida da Liberdade (511 m), and also the new route of the Nascente Entry with the connection to Circular Norte (10423 m)».

Also included in the network are the accessible tours of the Secondary School, with access to the Sports Pavilion and all other spaces in the establishment, and the tour of the EB 2,3 Poeta Bernardo de Passos School, recently built, which also gives access to the Municipal Pavilion.

In addition, there are new accesses built in Jardim da Verbena and new public spaces built with «Zero Barriers», «totally accessible to everyone: Parque da Vila and Praça da República».

«More than a work, the Accessible Walks Network project represents an important step in the creation of a truly inclusive council, where everyone can live with equal opportunities and with the dignity and quality of life that is desired for the entire community» , concluded the Chamber of São Brás de Alportel.
