Ocean, a two-Michelin starred restaurant at Vila Vita Parc, in Alporchinhos, on the coast of the municipality of Lagoa, is part of the list of the 1000 best in the world, achieved through the convergence of all rankings of the best in gastronomy, in an objective, transparent and international grid.

The idea came from Laurent Fabius, French Foreign Minister: to make a list of the XNUMX best restaurants in the world, without concessions, restrictions and deviations.

Thousands of chefs from all over the world were contacted, via the internet, for a confidential assessment of the guides in their country.

The most rigorous sources were consulted and crossed: from the Michelin Guide, the Boa Cama Guide, Boa Mesa, the Repsol Guide, Foursquare, TripAdvisor, Lo Mejor de la Gastronomia, Google Reviews, Worl 50 Best, Zomato, Andyhayler.com, Yelp , Winespectator and others.

The result can be consulted at www.laliste.com, and what distinguishes it is the fact that it avoids judging gastronomic cultures or certain restaurants, and is not subject to the specifics of the guides and other constraints that so often influence these assessments.

There are restaurants from 5 continents, seven of them in Portugal, two in the Algarve. Ocean, led by chef Hans Neuner, is in 76th position, being the highest rated Portuguese restaurant and the only one in the top 100, which confirms it as one of the most distinguished Portuguese restaurants, always adding points to the eyes as well. from foreign audiences.

The Swiss Restaurant de l'Hotel de Ville in Crissier leads the table. Among the Portuguese restaurants, this includes La Liste, in addition to Ocean (in 76th position), Belcanto, in Lisbon (101st), Vila Joya, in Albufeira (142nd), Fortaleza do Guincho, in Cascais (184th), Il Gallo D'Oro, in Funchal (265th), Arcadas Restaurant, in Santa Clara, Coimbra (504th) and Henrique Leis, in Almancil, Algarve (506th).

Among the 20 experts internationals that collaborated with the French team that coordinated the project, through the association Les Tables de Cinq Continents, there were no Portuguese, which reaffirms the exemption of this distinction.
