The end of the year in Armação de Pêra will be marked with a mega party at Praia dos Pescadores, which will feature a concert by the Algarve band Iris and Dj China, which will liven up the night with lots of music.
The Iris concert is scheduled for 23:00, followed by the fireworks at midnight and finally the sets of Dj China.
This special program, with free entry, is organized by the Parish Council of Armação de Pêra and has a partnership with the Municipality of Silves.
The event has the support of local businesses, as well as the Algarve Tourism region, the GNR, the Port Authority of Portimão, the Silves Volunteer Fire Brigade, the Silves Sul Schools Group, the Polis Apoteose Association, the Clube de Futebol Os Armacenenses, from the CNE Armação de Pêra Group and the Stage Team.
A iris band was created in 1979 by four friends who started playing at balls. Little by little, they were earning money to buy equipment, which allowed them to develop their unique style.
Over the years, they made the circuit of balls and bars and created their own themes, gaining a loyal audience, and it is currently difficult to find anyone in the Algarve who has not heard of them.
After several changes in the band's structure, in 1994, the band's main line-up emerged, consisting of: Domingos Caetano on guitars and main voice, Chico Mesquita on vocals and bass, Thierry Guerreiro on drums and Ray Van Duyvenbode on acoustic guitar and voices. It is with this line-up that in 1995, after 16 years of existence, the possibility of recording the first album of originals arises.
In April 1995, they signed a record contract with Vidisco to make three CDs, which would be the beginning of a long record career.
After several successes over the years, in 2007, they became the first Portuguese rock band to stage a show with an orchestra and record a CD and DVD of the show, with the help of Bulgarian violinist Emiliano Petrov, professor at the Conservatory of Vila Real de Santo António, which brought together the Ensemble Petrov with musicians from the Orquestra do Algarve, for this purpose, reaching up to 40.000 people.
From 1995 to the present, they have released an average of one album every two years. After several months of work in the studio, the iris band this year he released his new album “Ao Acaso”.
Didjing since 1988, the dj china is one of the references of the environment in Portugal, having passed through some of the mythical houses that have always raised the Algarve area to a nationally and internationally recognized level.
With a versatile and Funky House and an extremely energetic Techno, including Electronics, Pop, Ambiente, Trip Hop and Chill Out, Dj China shows his professionalism behind the dishes.
Resident in the Algarve, he works as a DJ, producer and promoter. Among his various projects, he formed the band D Generation and Denus Nagana, which resulted in two Downtempo albums, together with other producers he also produced a Downtempo and Lounge album for the Câmara de Albufeira under the name of “Albufeira Sounds”.
Currently has the project Soul Therapy with an ep released in December 2011 by Nervous Records and the theme Acceleration released in 2013 by I Bounce Records.
The Acceleration theme was licensed by TVI for the soap opera I Love It. In August 2015 dj China released a Double Originals Album.
