Jose Carlos BarrosJosé Carlos Barros, PSD deputy elected by the Electoral Circle of Faro and member of the Parliamentary Committee for the Environment and Spatial Planning, he was appointed rapporteur for the Petition “An Algarve free of exploration, prospecting, exploration and production of oil and natural gas (conventional or non-conventional)”.

The petition presented to the Assembly of the Republic, with more than 7000 signatures, has as its first petitioner the “Platform Free Algarve de Petróleo”, which requests the intervention of the Assembly of the Republic in order not to allow the prospecting and exploration of oil and gas Natural.

According to José Carlos Barros, his main concern, as rapporteur, is “to ensure that all issues related to this process are fully clarified – involving political and social actors in the Algarve Region, researchers, specialists and the scientific community” .

In addition to the petitioners, the rapporteur of the Petition states that it is his intention to promote the hearing, among others, of the National Entity for the Fuel Market, AMAL and the members of the Government responsible for the Environment and the Economy.
