The Chamber of Faro has just approved, at its weekly meeting, the acquisition of a mixed building in Bordeira, for the total amount of 130.000 euros, located at Rua José Ferreiro Pai, in Bordeira, parish of Santa Bárbara de Nexe.
According to the municipality, the property is intended to host the cultural and recreational activities carried out in that locality of the Parish of Santa Bárbara de Nexe, «in particular those concerning the Sociedade Recreativa Bordeirense, an association with enormous dynamics in the municipality and great ambassador of Faro's arts and cultural traditions all over the country».
The society was founded in 1936 and its popular marches created in 1962. Author of celebrated participation in several nominee events, it has, on average, around 20 performances per year.
The most remarkable of all was the one held on June 12, 2015, at the Festas de Lisboa, as an invited formation, having received unanimous applause.
The group is currently made up of the children's march and the senior march, but it brings together different classes in different disciplines.
This acquisition joins the financial support to the associative movement approved this weeka, in the amount of more than 250 thousand euros and which are intended to promote the activities carried out in 2015.
With this, the Chamber understands that "it gives a categorical sign that, once the greatest financial and legal difficulties have been overcome, it is possible to pursue a policy of fostering associations in the county, a recognized source of valuable services to the population of Faro".
