swimmingAthletes from Olhão shone in the Regional Youth and Absolute Championship, in a short pool, promoted by the Algarve Swimming Association, held on November 21st and 22nd, at the Silves Municipal Swimming Pools.

The swimmers brought 59 medals to Olhão. The Swimming Club of Olhão achieved 39 medals (16 gold, 14 silver and 9 bronze) and Colégio Bernardete Romeira won a total of 20 (5 gold, 9 silver and 6 bronze).

At the Olhão Swimming Club, medals were André Sousa Gonçalves, Carolina Maeiro Augusto, Elisa Souval Gonçalves, Joana Margarida Oliveira, João Eduardo Ilha, Miguel Duarte Pereira, Miriam Filipe Marcos, Tiago Miguel Pereira and Tomás Miguel Valente.

At Colégio Bernardete Romeira, medals were awarded to Ana Leonor Dias, Carolina Costa, Catarina Costa, Daniel Jomir, Duarte João Pombeiro, Inês Rufino Barriga and Mariana Leal Lopes.

249 swimmers (109 females and 140 males) participated in these Regional Youth and Absolute Championships, representing 14 clubs.

The mayor António Miguel Pina is delighted with these results, “which make the city of Olhão and the entire municipality so proud”.
