Rubens Barrichello RotaxYesterday at the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals, at Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve, was marked by the good results in the qualifications of former F1 driver Rubens Barrichello, and also of the Portuguese.

In competition until this Saturday, November 14th, in the world finals, Barrichello marks a good result in his return to karts, after being the driver with the highest number of participations in F1 Grand Prix.

For Rubinho, as he is treated in his team, his path in Formula 1 was a cycle that has ended and of which he is proud. At the moment, his focus is on competition in DD2 and he has never sought qualification for the DD2 Master category.

During qualifying, where he was in 3rd place, Rubens detected some failures, suspecting that maybe it was the sails, which made him lose some speed and that he hopes to see it resolved this Saturday, for the final race.

At the end of qualifying, after returning to boxing, the 43-year-old driver's concern is always to pass on all the necessary information to his mechanics and only then respond to all the journalists, photographers and fans waiting for him.

Between a short interview, an autograph and a photograph, the pilot vents that he is already used to this recognition, even mentioning that “when I enter a restaurant and no one looks or comes to take a picture, it's strange”.

In conversation, Barrichello says that he is very proud to be competing in the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals and that he seeks to support other younger riders, giving some advice and helping to guide them on their route.

Characterizing the Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve track as “very good and, above all, great for overtaking”, the former F1 driver compares the good weather in the Algarve to Brazil, his native country.

With his return to Portugal, Rubens Barrichello remembers his time in the country, while racing in the Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Estoril Autodrome. Rubinho also had a house in the Algarve, at Quinta do Lago.

national pilots

In the 16th edition of the world finals, for the second time on the Algarve circuit, Portuguese riders Bruno Borlido stand out, in the Max category, who achieved the best result among national riders, 3rd place, and Pedro Pinto, in DD2, which shows a great pace and great performance on the track.

Still in DD2, Eduardo Leitão was in 14th place, after having suffered some problems in the valve of his kart.

In DD2 Maxter, Miguel Moura was in 8th place and António Lima, in the same category, abandoned the race on the fifth lap.

For Mariano Pires, in the Junior category, the journey in the finals has not been easy. He ended up being excluded from the race due to technical irregularity, after concluding it with a loose exhaust, after being touched by another driver.
