Querença Market November 2015The acorn, «the fruit of the future», will be highlighted in the November edition of the Mercado de Querença, which takes place on Sunday, the 29th, in the center of this village in Loulé.

«Despite being neglected in our current diet, the acorn once had the same importance as the chestnut», according to those responsible for the Querença project, who organize this market, which is why they chose this product.

During the event, which can be visited between 9:30 am and 12 noon, an attempt will be made to reveal “something that many do not know: that the acorn is a food of great nutritional value, gluten-free, with antioxidant properties and rich in fiber and in protein'.

Visitors will have the opportunity to taste dishes with this product, made according to traditional recipes, namely «acorn baked in the oven, acorn bread and various sweets made with this fruit».

In addition to the acorn and its derivatives, the Querença Market will have much more to offer, such as the traditional agricultural, handicraft and sweets stalls, but also a free walk.

This ecotourism activity is scheduled for 9 am and will be sponsored by Barra Energética de Querença, a product developed under the Querença Project that has already started to be sold.

«The walk will be 8 km along tracks and roads near the village of Querença. We advise all participants to attend properly equipped. At the end, they will have the opportunity to taste the famous BEQ energy bar», according to the organization.
