The sweet potato was flowing at a good pace, with many people queuing up this Saturday to guarantee their share, and this should continue until the end of today, Sunday, at the Festival dedicated to it, in Aljezur, which has already attracted tens of thousands of people to this village. The Espaço Multiusos aljezurense has been hosting the event since Friday and can still be visited until midnight today.
The star of Sweet Potato Festival is this tuber, more precisely the variety lyra, the one that best adapts to Aljezur and with a protected geographical indication (IGP). This event ends up being used by many to ensure their stock of the “best sweet potato in the world”, as presented by the municipality of Aljezur, which organizes the event.
But there is much more to see at this fair, namely handicrafts, sweets and gastronomy, which come together in the space of the festival, which this year has more than one hundred stands.
