The Tourism Office is now equipped, according to the municipality, «with better service conditions, with more space and with more information available to its visitors».

The Arco da Vila Interpretive Center is a «museum space that will present aspects of the city's history from its origins to the construction of this magnificent monument commissioned by Bishop Francisco Gomes do Avelar, through the 1755 earthquake or the legends of Santa Maria and São Tomás de Aquino, allowing visitors to access unique views of the Ria, the garden and the village inland or even details of the clock and the bell tower».

In total, the project cost €112,772 (€48,793 referring to the Interpretive Center and €63,979 to the Tourism Office), and the work took 90 days.

The Municipality of Faro «rejoices with this inauguration, with high expectations regarding the contribution that these two facilities could make to the growing consolidation of the city of Faro as a tourist destination increasingly asserted in terms of history, culture and heritage».

The municipality believes that «the city will gain a new dignity in the reception offered to visitors, who will also have the opportunity to discover Arco da Vila as it has never been seen before».
