Restaurant-Bon-Bon-SignThe Algarve won another Michelin star in the 2016 guide. The Bon Bon restaurant, in Carvoeiro, is the most recent one awarded with the distinction, and none of the Algarve restaurants that were already included in the red guide, last year, have left.

The Bon Bon restaurant, whose chef is Rui Silvestre, is described by Michelin as a place whose «interesting cuisine at the Bon Bon restaurant is surprising for its technical level. Based on a select raw material, it proposes cutting-edge dishes, with defined flavors and careful presentations».

At national level, 14 restaurants are still present in the Michelin Guide Spain and Portugal, since the L'And Vineyards restaurant in Montemor-o-Novo lost the star it conquered in 2014.

In the Algarve there are now two restaurants with two Michelin stars (Vila Joya, in Albufeira and Ocean, in Porches) and four with one star: Bon Bon (Carvoeiro), São Gabriel (Almancil), Willie's (Vilamoura) and Henrique Laws (Almancil).

In the rest of the country, Belcanto, in Lisbon, is the only restaurant with two stars. With a star are in the guide the Pedro Lemos (Porto), Il Gallo d'Oro (Funchal), Casa da Calçada (Amarante), Guincho Fortaleza (Cascais), The Yeatman (Vila Nova de Gaia) and Feitoria and Eleven, both in Lisbon.

The 2016 guide's presentation gala took place yesterday in Santiago de Compostela.
