Kidnapping in Lagos_3Negotiations between the police and the man who barricaded, armed with a sawn-off shotgun, on the premises of the Lagos Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth this morning.

The man "keeps 3 hostages on site, all adults," as the reporter from the Sul Informação with the commissioner Maria do Céu Viola, who had already revealed that the kidnapper, a 40-year-old Portuguese, shot at the first elements of the PSP who went to the scene, "injuring one, slightly, in the head".

The person who alerted the authorities was Carlos Cordeiro, a user of the Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth, who went to the site at around 9:15 am, accompanied by his eleven-year-old son.

Kidnapping in Lagos_2“I went in and saw a man leaning against the bathroom door, with a shotgun with sawn pipes in his hand. He asked me what I was going to do and I replied that I had a meeting scheduled. He asked if I wanted to call the PSP, I didn't answer and he added that I'd better leave, which I did, thinking about the child's safety», revealed Carlos Cordeiro, to Sul Informação.

The building where the man was barricaded is next to the Júlio Dantas Secondary School, an area that was fenced off by the police, who quickly set up a security perimeter of 500 meters.

The school was evacuated as a precaution at first, but classes are now taking place normally, despite the fact that students are being prevented from approaching the school's closest fence to the building.

The reasons that led the man to commit the act are being investigated by the negotiator who has already contacted the man, who the police presume to be a resident of the Lagos area.

At the site, there are about a hundred elements of the PSP.
