Graduated in Law, he was General Secretary of Socialist Youth and President of the Congress, Member of the Assembly of the Republic and the European Parliament, Secretary of State for Fisheries, President of the PS-Algarve Federation and of the Municipal Chamber of Faro.
He is president of the Municipal Assembly of Faro.
Lately, he was chairman of the Board of Directors of Docapesca – Portos e Lotas SA.
