Odemira will host on Saturday, October 10th, from 16:30 pm, a Philharmonic Band Meeting, promoted by the Philharmonic Band of Odemira. The initiative marks World Music Day, which is celebrated on 1 October.
This year, Banda Filarmónica de Odemira has as guest the Banda Filarmónica Cubense 1º de Dezembro.
The meeting begins with a row of participating bands through the main streets of the village, passing through Praça da República. At 17.30 pm a show will start at the Casa do Povo in Odemira, with free admission.
The Banda Filarmónica Cubense 1º de Dezembro was founded in Cuba around 1840, with the name of “Sociedade Filarmónica Cubense”, establishing the current name since 1886. Joaquim António Senrada Simões has been the conductor of this band since January 2002.
The Banda Filarmónica de Odemira was founded on December 15, 1989 and currently has about 25 young musicians. Daniel Batista has been the conductor of the Banda Filarmónica since April 2013.
