The University of Algarve will be present at «Mar Algarve», the largest exhibition about the Sea south of the Tagus, which will take place at the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School, in Faro, from the 1st to the 3rd of October. This fair will bring together agents from all sectors of the sea economy and provide various activities, such as seminars, workshops, business meetings, show cooking and school visits.
Playing "at home", UAlg will be represented by various centres, laboratories and divisions, namely the Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer Division - CRIA, the Scientific Diving Center of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FCT), the Sports course at the School of Education and Communication (ESEC), the Center for Marine Science (CCMAR), the Center for Technological Research of the Algarve (CINTAL), the Center for Marine and Environmental Research (CIMA), the Interdisciplinary Center for Archeology and Evolution of Human Behavior (ICArEHB) and the Sanitary Engineering Laboratory (LES).
The Algarve university will use the experience gained from the participation in Blue Week, an international fair dedicated to the economy of the sea that took place in Lisbon last June, where it «confirmed its excellence in the area of the Sea».
On the first day of the exhibition, October 1st, at 14 pm, Elsa Pereira, professor at the School of Education and Communication (ESEC) at UAlg, will deliver the lecture «The leverage of nautical sporting events in promoting the image of tourist destinations: case study Portimão”, inserted in the seminar “Sea – Tourism and Sport”.
On the 2nd, also at 14 pm, the seminar «Job opportunities at sea – A future for young people» will be held, which will be attended by Adelino Canário, professor and researcher at the University of Algarve. On the same day, at 17 pm, Duarte Duarte, professor at the Faculty of Science and Technology (FCT) of UAlg, will be the moderator of the seminar «A dip in the Blue Planet and Hyperbaric Medicine».
