school tabletThe University of Algarve will host, until the 22nd of September, the first meeting of the international team of the MathematIcs bLended Augmented GamE (MILAGE) project. The initiative aims to promote the pedagogical use of digital technologies, such as smartphones and tablets, in teaching and learning mathematics.

The project is coordinated by Mauro Figueiredo, professor at the Higher Institute of Engineering (ISE) at UAlg and also involves partners from Spain, Norway and Turkey. MILAGE intends to create «a set of digital materials that secondary school students can use beyond the classroom, supporting them in their autonomous work, through the exploration of multiple multimedia tools in solving mathematical tasks», says the University of Algarve.

Funded by the European Program ERASMUS+, “this initiative foresees the production of a set of ebooks and augmented reality books for the three years of secondary education».

Seven other teachers from UAlg are also involved in this project, as well as four mathematics teachers from Escola Secundária Pinheiro e Rosa, in Faro.
