Portimonense beat Penafiel by two to one, in a game counting for the League Cup, played this Wednesday. The Algarvians went to the North of the country to guarantee a place in the group stage of this competition, where the top four of the 2014/15 I League will also play: Benfica, Porto, Sporting and Braga.
The first goal of the match was scored after 10 minutes, by Fidelis, who put Portimonense in advantage. The result only changed in the final minutes of the match. The Algarvians increased the advantage one minute after 90, through Fabrício, but there was still time for Penafiel to reduce the advantage, through a penalty, scored by Mbala at 94.
In addition to Portimonense, Vitória de Guimarães, Famalicão, Paços de Ferreira, Oriental and Leixões have already secured their place in the third phase. Olhanense and Farense had already been eliminated in the 1st phase.
